PSYCHOSOMATIC

This week we will start with psychosomatic...

Did you ever heard of it?

Do you know what it is?

Have you ever met with this concept?

Or maybe better to ask you:

Do you believe in the connection between the mind and the body?

So, let's start from scratch.

Psychosomatic is a scientific attitude in medicine and therapy that connects the psychic system (Psychos) with physical system (somatic). It moves from the theory that the mind and body are one. Simply said, all that happens to a person on a psychological basis (such as trauma, emotions, conflicts, unresolved relationships etc.), if the person doesn't resolve them over a certain period of time, it is accumulated as an "emotional garbage". After some time, the same "emotional garbage" begins with its physical manifestation called physical illness. So in its broadest sense, psychosomatic represents that the person is a unity of mind, body and spirit. Our physical condition is a reflection of our attitudes, beliefs and emotional blockages.

Does that make sense to you?

I believe that you've heard about Louise Hay, a woman who practically founded self-help movement. Louise is the initiator of the idea that we can change our reality with a positive attitude. She has written a book with causes of certain diseases and how you can heal your body with affirmations and beliefs. Louise Hay thinks we have the power of creating and changing our own future by wisely choosing our own thoughts.

Mind and thoughts have enormous power.

Accordingly to that, our state of mind and spirit is the starting point for development of physical illness. And vice versa – it's the key for healing.

For each particular illness, Louise has come up with its psychological cause and affirmation that cures the disease. But it is important to believe in affirmations that you repeat on daily basis. Therefore, it would be good to transform a certain affirmation that doesn't resonate with you. It is important that you feel the emotion and believe in what you are saying, when you make your own affirmation. Because emotion comes before cognition. Likewise, it is not enough just to pronounce affirmation once and consider that everything is resolved. It takes a little time and dedication each day to work on the affirmations.

Personally I would recommend that you write affirmations and say it out loud for 21 days. Take a notebook and 12 times write down an affirmation that resonates with you. As you are writing it, think about what it means for you and what emotion do you feel while doing it. If your thoughts wander, that's OK. It is important to notice that and return the focus on affirmations. After you've wrote it down for 12 times, read it out loud. It's important that you hear your voice for 12 times. As I said, repeat it for 21 days. After a while things will start to change.

From today on, I will put on my FB page Ursula - Your Personal Coach one physical illness, a probable cause of that illness and affirmation by Louise Hay. Feel free to click and see.

Speaking of integration of the mind and body, I want to say something about self-help and relaxation technique called autogenic training. The technique is inspired by hypnosis and it's purpose is to achieve the autonomic self-regulation by removing environmental distractions. It's a manipulation method by suggestion. Autogenic training helps the person to restore their inner peace and increase stress resistance. The ultimate goal you can achieve by applying it, is a stable self-control and a balanced state of mind and body. In addition, there are a number of other positive effects, such as achieving emotional stability and a feeling of relaxation and peace in different life circumstances. It also increases self-confidence, self-esteem and balance of psyche. Autogenic training also helps like a treatment of various disorders and diseases such as phobias, depression, sleep disorders, headaches, migraines, arrhythmias, anorexia, bulimia, asthma etc. I would recommend autogenic training to anyone who wants to achieve inner peace, control, balance and stability.

Anyway, think about what you read today. If you have a specific physical illness, check out Louise Hay's list of diseases and causes. But you have to be very open and honest with yourself. And sometimes that's the hardest.

Good luck!
